This Recipe Makes 2 x Snap Bar Wax Melts
1. Prepare Your Workspace
Ensure your workspace is clean and clutter-free before you begin. Pre-weigh all of your ingredients to make the process easier and help everything flow smoothly while making your wax melts.
2. Melt Your Wax
Using your preferred melting method, melt 180g of CocoPro Pillar Wax. Avoid heating the wax above 80°C, as overheating can affect the quality and performance of the wax.
Once fully melted, pour the wax into a heat-proof jug and allow it to cool to its pouring temperature of 50–60°C.
3. Add Your Fragrance Oil
Just before the wax reaches its pouring temperature, add 20g of Elderflower & Garden Mint fragrance oil. Stir thoroughly for 1–2 minutes to ensure the fragrance is evenly distributed throughout the wax.
4. Add Colour
Pour a small amount of wax into a separate heat-safe bowl and add 2–3 Black Chip Dye chips. Stir until the dye has fully dissolved and the colour is smooth and even.
5. Create the Cow Print Design
Using a pipette, carefully add drops of the black wax into the 5-cavity snap bar clamshell, placing them randomly to create a cow print effect. Allow the black wax to set for around 1 minute before continuing.
6. Pour the Remaining Wax
Slowly pour the remaining uncoloured wax into the clamshell. As the wax sets, it will cure to a creamy white shade, creating the perfect contrast for the cow print design.
7. Allow to Set & Cure
Leave the wax melts overnight to fully harden before placing the lid on the clamshell.
For the best scent throw, allow the wax melts to cure for 1–2 weeks before use.

Why has my wax turned white after setting?
CocoPro Pillar Wax naturally cures to a creamy white finish once fully hardened, making it perfect for cow print and decorative wax melt designs.
Can I use a different wax for this project?
Yes, you can use other pillar or mould waxes suitable for wax melts. However, results may vary depending on the wax’s finish, colour, and fragrance load.
How long should I cure my wax melts?
For the best scent throw, allow your wax melts to cure for 1–2 weeks before using them.
Why are my black spots bleeding into the wax?
This usually happens when the coloured wax is too hot. Allow the black wax to cool slightly and partially set before pouring the remaining wax.
Can I use liquid dye instead of chip dye?
Yes, liquid dye works well for this design. Start with a very small amount and gradually add more until you reach your desired shade.
Which fragrance oils work best for cow-print wax melts?
Creamy, sweet, and fresh fragrances work particularly well with this design.
Which moulds are best for cow-print wax melts?
Snap bar clamshells and silicone moulds are ideal, as they provide a smooth surface that helps the cow-print design stand out clearly.
Why does my wax look uneven after setting?
Uneven finishes can happen if the wax is poured too quickly or cools too fast. Pour slowly and allow the melts to set undisturbed on a flat surface.
How should I store my wax melts?
Store wax melts in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to help preserve both the fragrance and colour.
Can I make cow print wax melts in different colours?
Absolutely! Try pink, brown, pastel, or even seasonal colour combinations to create unique variations of the design.
