Rainbow candles and wax melts are the perfect way to add colour, creativity and personality to your product range. Whether you’re crafting for fun, gifting, or selling, layered rainbow designs instantly stand out and attract attention.
The key to success lies in patience and temperature control. Each layer must partially set before pouring the next to prevent colours from blending. By dividing your wax evenly and working with small batches, you can create crisp, defined layers in a variety of colour combinations.
This guide covers both rainbow wax melts and a 30cl rainbow container candle so you can master both techniques.
Always check IFRA and legal limits for your chosen fragrance oil before making or selling.

1. Why Are My Layers Blending Together?
You may be pouring too soon. Allow each layer to partially set before adding the next.
2. Can I Fragrance Every Layer?
Yes, but ensure fragrance is added at the correct temperature (65–70°C).
3. How long should I cure my candle?
For best scent throw, cure for 7–14 days.
4. Why Do I Get Sinkholes?
Wax naturally contracts as it cools. Save a small amount of wax to top up the final layer if needed.
5. Can I Use Different Wax Types?
Yes, but ensure the wax is suitable for container candles or wax melts depending on your project.
