- Weigh 80g of CocoPro Melt Wax and melt using a wax melter or double boiler over medium to low heat. Do not exceed 80°C.
- Once melted, remove from heat and add a few drops of Green Liquid Candle Dye. Stir thoroughly.
- Allow wax to cool to 55–60°C. Pour into a Standard Clamshell (pouring hotter may melt the plastic).
- Leave to fully set. Once hardened, remove and cut into small pieces — these will form the melting centre.
- Melt another 80g of wax, again not exceeding 80°C.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool to 65°C. Add 8g of your chosen Fragrance Oil and stir thoroughly.
- Allow to cool further to 55–60°C before pouring.
- Pour the wax into the Cavity Snap Bar, filling each cavity halfway only.
- Wait around 10 minutes — the wax should thicken but not fully set, then place a piece of your green wax into the centre of each mould. Lightly press down so it stays in place.
- Carefully pour the remaining wax over the top to fill the mould. If the green centre begins to melt, stop pouring and wait 1–2 minutes for the wax to cool before continuing.
- Leave to set overnight at room temperature. For best scent throw, allow melts to cure for up to 2 weeks before use. Repeat these steps for all colours.
- Your Sorting Hat Wax Melts are now ready to create their dramatic melting effect.

1. How Long Do Wax Melts Take To Set?
Typically 2–6 hours, depending on room temperature and melt size. Allow at least 4–5 hours before removing from moulds.
2. Do Wax Melts Expire?
Wax melts don’t “expire” immediately, but fragrance strength may fade over time. For best results, use within 12 months and store in a cool, dry place.
3. Why Use Liquid Dyes?
Liquid dyes are highly concentrated, easy to measure, and provide vibrant, consistent colour — perfect for themed creations.
4. Why Is My Green Wax Centre Blending Into The Outer Wax?
Your wax is likely too hot when pouring. Always pour at 55–60°C to prevent the centre from melting too early.
5. Why Did My Clamshell Melt Or Warp?
This happens when wax is poured too hot. Allow wax to cool to 55–60°C before pouring into plastic moulds.
6. Can I Customise The Fragrances?
Absolutely. You can choose any fragrances to match your theme — just ensure they are compliant with IFRA limits.
7. Can I Sell Themed Wax Melts?
Yes, but you must follow CLP regulations, correct labelling, and fragrance safety guidelines.
