- Thread your Wedo Eco Wick 12 Raw through the Pillar Candle Mould and secure tightly using a wick centering tool. Use clips to seal the mould edges if necessary. Stabilise your mould upright inside a jug or box.
- Using weighing scales, weigh out 1kg of Paraffin Pillar Blend Wax and 100g your chosen Fragrance Oil.
- Next, melt the wax using a wax melter or double boiler. Do not exceed 80°C.
- Remove the wax from the heat and thoroughly mix in the fragrance oil.
- Add a few Soft Pink Dye Chips or a liquid dye and mix well until fully dispersed. Keep adding more until you reach your desired colour.
- When your wax is around 65°C you can slowly pour it into your mould.
- Ensure the wick remains centred using the wick entering tool and leave to set overnight.
- Once fully hardened, remove clamps and wick tools. To create a rustic effect, lightly heat the top of the candle with a heat gun. This smooths the surface and creates subtle drip textures down the sides.
- Carefully remove the candle from the mould. Trim the wick flush at the base and leave 1–2cm at the top. Your Rustic Pillar Candle is ready to enjoy.
Making your own pillar candles is easier than you might think. With just a few core ingredients — pillar wax, fragrance oil, a correctly sized wick, and colour — you can create stunning candles in a variety of shapes and sizes. By adjusting your mould, colour intensity, and fragrance choice, you can customise each candle to suit seasonal ranges, gift sets, or home décor collections.
Achieving the perfect rustic finish is all about technique. Controlled pouring temperatures, correct wick selection, and a light heat-gun finish on the surface can create that beautifully imperfect, artisan-style look.
Always check IFRA and legal usage limits for your chosen fragrance oil before making or selling.

1. What Is The Best Temperature For Pouring Pillar Candles?
For most pillar waxes, pour between 55–65°C for a smooth finish and easy release. Always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
2. Why Is Wick Size Important?
The wick must match the candle’s diameter and height. A wick that’s too small causes tunnelling; too large can cause smoking or excessive melt pool.
3. Does Pillar Wax Shrink?
Shrinkage of up to 10% is normal as wax cools. Allow extra slack in your preparation to compensate.
4. How Do I get a Rustic Finish?
Use a heat gun lightly on the surface after setting. This creates natural texture and drip effects.
5. Can I customise fragrance and colour?
Yes. You can adjust colours and fragrances to suit seasons, events, or your brand aesthetic — just ensure you stay within IFRA safety limits.
