What is the ratio for Room Spray using cyclopentasiloxane?
We recommend using 5% to 20% Fragrance Oil, depending on the fragrance oil compatibility and how strong you want the room spray to be. Check the IFRA sheets of the fragrance oil before use.
We recommend using 80% to 95% of Cyclopentasiloxane.
For example: 100ml spray bottle = 15ml Fragrance Oil + 85ml cyclopentasiloxane room spray base.
How To Make a Room spray
What you will need:
Spray Bottle
Fragrance Oil
Cyclopentasiloxane Room Spray Base
Step 1
Measure out your Cyclopentasiloxane into a measuring jug
Step 2
Measure out the fragrance oil and add it to the pre-measured Cyclopentasiloxane. Stir in well for a even coverage.
Step 3
Take your chosen bottle, unscrew the cap, and pour in your room spray. If needed, trim your pump to fit your bottle! Screw the lid back on tightly so the room spray does not leak.
Step 4
Shake well & enjoy your room spray!
Testing your room spray
When creating your own room spray, it’s important that you do some tests before bulk batching. Things to look for:
- Separation/cloudiness – Higher fragrance loads may cause the mixture to cloud or separate over time
- Scent strength – Depending on the fragrance oil potency, even 5% might be strong enough for many spaces
- IFRA/safety limits – Ensure your chosen fragrance oils are permissible at the load you wish to use for ‘room sprays/air fresheners’
- Viscosity/sprayability – Cyclopentasiloxane is a low-viscosity fluid, which helps with good atomization even with some fragrance load.
FQA
How long does homemade room spray last?
Typically 2-6 months, depending on the oils, storage and recipe. Over time, scent potency diminishes
Why does my spray turn cloudy or separate?
That usually means your ratio of solubilize or binder is too low, or you used tap water.
Can I spray it on fabric, curtains and linens?
Yes, but always test in an inconspicuous spot first. Some oils may stain or damage delicate fabrics.
Is it safe around pets / children?
Be cautious. Some essential oils are toxic to pets or individuals with sensitivities. Research each oil you use and avoid overuse.
Can I sell homemade room sprays?
Yes, but make sure you’re following local home fragrance and cosmetic regulations. Always label your ingredients clearly, check safety requirements, and keep documents like IFRA certificates on hand.
