So, it’s time to think about shipping your candles. Postage costs are determined by four main areas which you will need to evaluate before choosing how you will post your products to your customers:
- Service and speed
- Dimension and weight
- Destination
- Postage volume
What Do I need To Decide?
Before posting, it’s best to shop around to find which couriers work best for you, this means you’ll need to be able answer these questions:
• When do you want your package to arrive with a customer?
• Is a guaranteed delivery or delivery commitment required?
• Is tracking required?
• Is signature confirmation or any other service add-on required?
• What packaging do you want to use?
• Will you charge customers for postage?
• Will you be shipping outside of your country of residence?
• Will you be able to ship certain products to other countries?
• Will you insure parcels?
• Will you accept returns?
Protecting Your Products
To ensure you don’t fall at the last hurdle with breakages, it is important to ensure your candles are wrapped and protected perfectly.
• Write the address clearly on the front and always include a postcode when you can.
• Use padded envelopes for sharp edges or odd shapes.
• Make sure any outer containers are strong enough for their contents. We also recommend boxing your products in their own Boxes.
• Fragile items shouldn’t touch either each other or the side of the container.
• Fill out containers with cushioning material like Shredded Paper.
• Write a return address on the item.
• Put a contact name, address and telephone number inside.
• Seal securely with tape along all edges and openings.
• Flatten any sharp edge from staples or metal fastenings, and cover with tape.
• Use a ‘FRAGILE’ sticker, if necessary.
• Ensure you aren’t sending any restricted or prohibited items.
• Combe design with practicality.
Packaging doesn’t have to be ugly. You won’t need to sacrifice beautiful branding to ensure your products arrive safely. There are a whole host of fun, exciting and beautifully designed packing accessories that you can get creative with. From coloured packing paper to the intricate shapes that wrap pak provides, it’s all about selecting the right materials for you and your brand as well as your products.
You may want to opt for multiple layers! For example, if you have a candle or diffuser, you could wrap this in tissue or paper before placing it inside a candle box with an insert, which can then be padded and packed into a parcel box! Rather than just packaging your items in a box, popping them into a smaller box, dust bag or wrapped in paper is just a few great ways to add a touch of luxury and make the opening process longer and more enjoyable as well as more protected.
