For this customer story, we hear from Lote Bagnuka the owner of Simply Glitty! Simply Glitty currently offers a selection of hand-poured wax melts with a strong and long-lasting scent.
So what is Lote’s story? She told us how she always liked creating something but she either failed or got bored quickly, but then she looked into wax melts, she told us how she always loved when it smelled great when entering a home, so she started to create wax melts, at first for herself, but then, when friends came over. Her friends would always ask what smells so nice in here? Lote soon realised that she could turn it into her own business and she realised that she was on the right path, and she told us that the most amazing part is when creating wax melts, because when designing them, there are no limits, Lote just can’t imagine being bored when creating them!
So what made Lote want to try her hand at candle/wax melt making? She told us how she always bought candles and wax melts from shops, and that most of the time they didn’t have a strong scent throw, so she thought she would give it a try and have a go at making her own strong scented products!
So how exactly did Lote start her business? Lote shared with us that it started with a storage box with little bits of everything, but not enough knowledge, now she has a room for making them and loads of knowledge which came after many disasters and learning experiences.
We also wanted to know if there is a story behind her name and logo? GLITTERS! Shiny things! She told us how she can’t keep her eyes off them, and that sparks something inside her, it just went together and the name came to her.
So how does she choose her candle/wax melt scents? Lote told us that she tries to go by the time of the year, she told us that she won’t offer her customers a seasonal scent like pumpkin in summer!
Lastly, we asked Lote if she has any advice for those hoping to build their own candle business? Don’t stop! You might fail many many times because it might not be as easy as it seems at first, but it is so worth it! Research, loads of research, and just do it and do it and do it again, you will thank yourself later!
