Tired of using harsh chemicals to keep your toilet fresh and clean? Citrus block toilet fizzers are an easy and eco-friendly solution! These natural, fizzy cleaning blocks not only freshen up your bathroom but also help eliminate odours, fight grime, and leave your toilet sparkling with a bright citrus scent. Plus, they’re fun to make and customizable with your favourite essential oils.
In this DIY guide, we’ll show you how to make your citrus block toilet fizzers using simple, non-toxic ingredients. Let’s dive in!
What you’ll need
1 & half Cup of Bicarbonate Of Soda
1 & half Cup of Citric Acid
4 Cavity Citrus Mould Silicone
Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of citric acid Stir until all ingredients are well blended. The citric acid will provide the fizz, while the baking soda will clean and deodorize.
Step 2: Add Essential Oils
Next, add 7 drops of lemon essential oils and 7 drops of Grapefruit to the dry mixture. Lemon and orange oils are particularly great for fighting odors and adding a fresh, clean scent.
Step 3: Add Water Carefully
Using a spray bottle or very slowly pouring it in, add 1 tablespoon of water to the mixture. The water will activate the citric acid and baking soda to bind the ingredients together. Be careful to add it gradually so the mixture doesn’t fizz prematurely. Stir continuously as you add the water.
Step 4: Press the Mixture into Molds
Once the mixture feels like damp sand, press it firmly into your silicone molds or ice cube trays. Pack the mixture in tightly to ensure the fizzers hold their shape. If you want to add a bit of color, you can mix in a drop or two of food coloring at this stage.
Step 5: Let the Fizzers Dry
Allow the fizzers to dry in the molds for at least 4-6 hours, or overnight for best results. Once fully dry, gently pop them out of the molds. They should be hard and ready to use.
How to Use Your Citrus Block Toilet Fizzers
To use your homemade fizzers, simply drop one into the toilet bowl and watch it fizz! The citrus essential oils will release their refreshing scent as the fizzer breaks down grime and freshens the water. For tougher stains or buildup, let the fizzer sit for 10-15 minutes before scrubbing with a toilet brush.
Storage Tips
Store your citrus block toilet fizzers in an airtight container to keep them dry and prevent them from losing their fizzing power. Keep them in a cool, dry place, and they should last for a couple of months.
